Turbos are designed for the lifetime of the vehicle, apparently 150k miles, so to have one fail at 5k miles should indicate something is wrong with the replacement or in how it was fitted. Engine life has nothing to do with it I would have thought. The garage is saying that the life of the engine is about 150k miles.
